Directors and Officers

Yukio Sakamoto became our President, Representative Director and Chief Executive Officer in November 2002. Mr. Sakamoto has also been Director of Akita Elpida since July 2006.
From March 2000 to October 2002, Mr. Sakamoto was the President of UMC JAPAN (formerly Nippon Foundry, Inc.).
Prior to joining UMC JAPAN, he acted in a number of positions at Kobe Steel, Ltd., including General Manager of the Semiconductor Department, Electronics & Information Division.
Prior to joining Kobe Steel, he was Vice President of Texas Instruments Japan Limited from April 1993 to September 1997.

Shuichi Otsuka became a Director in March 2004. He has been our Chief Operating Officer since November 2002. Mr. Otsuka was President and Representative Director of Hiroshima Elpida from November 2004 to December 2006.
Prior to joining Elpida, Mr. Otsuka acted in a number of important positions within Sony, including the President of System Device Company (within Semiconductor Network Company) from April 2001 to September 2002.

Takao Adachi became a Director in June 2006. He has been our Chief Technology Officer since April 2005, prior to which he served as an Officer from April 2004 to April 2005. Mr. Adachi acted in a number of important positions within Elpida from April 2000 to April 2004, including General Manager of the Technology Development Office.
Prior to joining Elpida, Mr. Adachi was Project Manager of Planning and Development at the First Memory Division of LSI Memory Operation Unit within Electron Device of NEC from June 2000 to October 2000.

Hideki Gomi became a Director in June 2008.
He has been an Elpida corporate executive officer since August 2006. Prior to becoming an Elpida executive officer, he was the executive manager of the Advanced Process Development Group within Elpida's Technology & Development Office.
Before joining Elpida Mr. Gomi held several positions with NEC Corporation from 1985 to 2000, including a six-year period of having senior engineering management responsibilities at NEC's US subsidiary, NEC Electronics Inc.

Toshio Nohara became a Director in April 2003.
Mr. Nohara has also been a corporate auditor of Renesas Technology Corp. since April 2006, prior to which he was the General Manager, Semiconductor Business Operations of Hitachi from December 2002 to March 2006.

Kosei Nomiya became a Director in September 2004.
Mr. Nomiya has also been the Chairman of Ultratech Japan K.K. since May 2004.
Mr. Nomiya was a Senior Vice President and Executive Officer of Hitachi Kokusai Electric Inc. from June 2000 to March 2004 and Director of Semiconductor Equipment and Materials International since July 2002.

Tsutomu Niimura became a Director in June 2006.
Mr. Niimura has also been an Executive Alumnus of Sony Corporation since April 2006 and an Outside Director of PALTEK CORPORATION since March 2008.

Tsugio Makimoto became a Director in June 2006.
He has also been the Representative Director of PDF Solutions KK, and the Representative of TechnoVision Consulting.

Masaji Kubo became a Corporate Auditor of Elpida in June 2005.
Mr. Kubo was Chief Administrative Officer from December 2002 to June 2005 and was also a Director of Hiroshima Elpida from September 2003 to March 2004.
Prior to joining Elpida, Mr. Kubo was an executive in the Management Planning Division, within the Semiconductor & Integrated Circuits Group, of Hitachi from September 2000 to July 2002.

Toshimasa Ota became a Corporate Auditor in June 2007.
Prior to assuming his current position, he acted as Executive Manager of Legal Group from April 2003 to May 2007 and as Executive Manager of IP & Legal Department from April 2006 to May 2007.
Mr. Ota has also been a Corporate Auditor of Tera Probe, Inc. since May 2007. He also became a Corporate Auditor of Hiroshima Elpida Memory, Inc. and a Corporate Auditor of Akita Elpida Memory, Inc in June 2007.

Tokuo Yamamoto became a Corporate Auditor in June 2007.
Mr. Yamamoto has also been a General Manager of the Affiliated Company Division at NEC Corporation since June 2007.

Katsumi Sakurai became a Corporate Auditor in June 2007.
Mr. Sakurai was a President of Ibaraki Hitachi Information Service Co., Ltd. from May 2003 to May 2005.
