Development – Reinforcing development of advanced technology
Elpida Memory uses its rich base of industry-leading, world-class technologies to develop DRAM products. Also, we are actively working on research and development of various fundamental technologies essential to the task of future DRAM development, such as process technology, high-density technology, low-power consumption technology and high-speed technology. These research and development activities are focused on making a smooth transition to product manufacturing, and as such, test and mass production are housed in the same facilities. Also, we are focusing on the development of next-generation memory which combines large density, high speed and non-volatility*.
Elpida Memory will position itself as the leading edge of the DRAM market by concentrating our company's resources on research and development of advanced, highly functional, high-performance DRAMs. We also have a keen interest in creating alliances with R&D centers outside our company. This well-rounded approach enables us to tackle the toughest challenges presented by new technology. As a result, we are able to develop Premier DRAMs, which feature the most advanced technology capabilities, and we have an extensive line-up of packages, modules and other products which deliver high performance and dependability.

Production – Strengthening our manufacturing system
Elpida Memory has a dependable system of production centered on Hiroshima Plant. The fab produces high-performance, high value-added Premier DRAMs. As for DRAMs that must have flexible pricing power and a dependable system of supply suited to the PC industry, production based on our design is entrusted to overseas foundry makers who have an outstanding ability to compete on price.
The engineers at Hiroshima Plant work on improving their skills to enhance production efficiency and yield, and they make practical use of various unique technologies. In October 2005, Hiroshima Elpida Memory's E300 fab Area 2 was expanded, which has helped Elpida to achieve even greater domestic production capacity.
In sum, these manufacturing arrangements allow Elpida Memory to flexibly manufacture a diverse number of market trend-sensitive DRAM products and to provide timely delivery of extremely dependable products to customers.
Sales – Upgrading Sales & Marketing Activities
The increasing digitalization of information across a large number of business areas is driving demand for DRAMs which feature even higher levels of performance and dependability.
Elpida Memory markets Premier DRAMs which meet these needs as a center of sales. We create special business units for each of our product areas consisting of a sales team, a technology marketing team and a system evaluation team. The staff working in these units have a wealth of business experience and technology know-how.
These advantages are used to facilitate in-depth conversations with customers, discover unrealized needs, provide the best solutions and formulate long-term partnerships.
Also, our network of sales offices located domestically in Tokyo, Osaka and Nagoya and overseas in North America, Europe and various countries in Asia can support customers in all regions of the world.
Premier DRAMs for Digital Consumer Electronics & Mobile Devices
Elpida Memory is using the most advanced technology in the semiconductor industry to develop and introduce Premier DRAMs suited to various needs and to upgrade our product line-up. Also, we meet the needs of the electronics and semiconductor makers who are our customers by consulting closely with them at the earliest stage of design, in order to provide optimum DRAM solutions.
The digital consumer electronics and mobile device markets provide semiconductor makers with some of the biggest growth potential. We intend to establish a dominant position in these markets by improving our ability to provide solutions and by becoming the best DRAM partner of our customers.
Premier DRAMs for Servers
In the server area, extremely reliable, low-power consumption/low voltage DRAMs that can rapidly and consistently process high-density data are in demand. Moreover, packaging technologies that facilitate higher densities and slim module designs, as well as experience related to mounting DRAM on boards are required.
Elpida Memory aggressively develops highly integrated high-density technologies in our aim to rapidly provide top-quality Premier DRAMs capable of meeting customer expectations. Also, we strive to strengthen partnerships by continuously communicating with our customers.
DRAMs for Personal Computers
In this product area, customers demand flexible pricing and reliable supply arrangements that can keep up with changes in the balance of supply and demand.
By taking advantage of the advanced technologies we have acquired from developing Premier DRAMs and through our ties with overseas foundry makers, Elpida Memory has established a reliable system of production that can respond to pricing and other changes in market conditions.
Elpida Memory plans to further increase costcompetitiveness and supply capacity to continue to achieve a high level of customer satisfaction.
Foundry Business
Elpida Memory undertakes foundry production of logic products at our advanced E300 fab.
Elpida Memory will continue to offer foundry services to a large number of customers using manufacturing know-how acquired in the DRAM business, and grow in this field.
- Premier DRAM
- Premier DRAMs is the name given by Elpida Memory to DRAM products used in digital consumer electronics, mobile devices and servers. In contrast to DRAMs used in personal computers and certain other end-products, Premier DRAMs are more technologically advanced and feature an attractive price/unit of density ratio.
