INTEL DEVELOPER FORUM, San Francisco, Calif. - February 18, 2004 - Elpida Memory, Inc (Elpida), Japan's leading global supplier of Dynamic Random Access Memory (DRAM), today announced that it will speak at the Meet the Engineers-Memory Implementers Forum roundtable event on Wednesday, February 18th from 6:00-8:00 PM. The reception gives Intel Developer Forum attendees the opportunity to meet one-on-one with memory vendors to discuss DDR2 architecture and the new fully-buffered dual in-line memory module (DIMM) specification. Elpida has also joined the new Memory Implementer Forum as a charter member. As part of this event, Elpida is displaying its complete DDR2 product portfolio during this week's Intel Developer Forum (Booth #353).
"The Meet the Engineer event gives us the opportunity to present the benefits of DDR2 architecture as well as upcoming technology, such as the fully-buffered DIMM, to a key memory-focused audience," said Jun Kitano, director of Technical Marketing for Elpida Memory (USA). "Elpida has long supported DDR2 as the best architecture for next generation computing and server applications and our commitment to the technology is demonstrated in the comprehensive DDR2 product line up we have today."
"DDR2 memory is gaining great momentum on Intel architecture platforms this year," said Jim Pappas, director of initiative marketing for Intel's Enterprise Platform Group. "We applaud Elpida's entry into the Memory Implementers Forum and their demonstration of the latest DDR2 technology at IDF."
DDR2 architecture provides the highest speed performance available for desktop, server and notebook PC applications. The new fully-buffered DIMM specification is currently under development by JEDEC, and is expected to be offered as a standard module for DRAMs based on the DDR2 architecture as well as next-generation DDR3 architecture. The fully buffered DIMM is targeted for next generation server applications.
