Elpida Memory Plans to Support Demand for XDRTM DRAM

TOKYO, JAPAN, May 17, 2005 - Elpida Memory, Inc. Japan's leading global supplier of Dynamic Random Access Memory (DRAM), today announced that plans to support demand for XDRTM DRAM for the PLAYSTATION®3 from Sony Computer Entertainment Inc.

Elpida announced sample availability of its ultra-high-speed 512 Megabit XDR DRAM in March, 2005. The primary market for the XDR DRAM architecture is high-performance gaming consoles due to its ability to support high-end graphics and advanced digital imaging. It is also suitable for additional applications including home servers and high-definition television.
