Elpida Honored With Technical Recognition Award from JEDEC
Recognition Received for Our Important Long-Standing Contributions to Module Standardization
Elpida Memory is pleased to announce that Toshio Sugano, Technology and Development Office NPD Gr. Professional, has been awarded a Technical Recognition Award by the JEDEC Solid State Technology Association for his outstanding technical contributions to technology standardization.
The award recognizes Mr. Sugano's long-standing accomplishments and Elpida's contributions in standardizing DRAM modules, such as EDO DRAM and all the way to DDR2 SDRAM. The honor granted by JEDEC, the leading organization for developing solid-state standards, will help to elevate Elpida's status in module technology in the semiconductor industry and will inspire us to even greater achievements.
The list of Elpida's primary DRAM standardization successes is as follows:
- Establishing mechanical specifications for module and module connectors
- Introducing system simulation for the Dual Inline Memory Module (DIMM) standardization process
- Creation of module board design, component placement and other DIMM standard design rules
Another reason for the award is in recognition of the creation by Mr. Sugano and Elpida of JEITA (formerly, EIAJ), an ad hoc module group that has substantially benefited the Japanese domestic semiconductor industry through its energetic work on module standardization.
Elpida wishes to express its deepest appreciation for the honor bestowed by JEDEC and for the approval and support of our work shown by the semiconductor industry. The honor will encourage Elpida to continue to play a leading role in semiconductor technology development.
