Rexchip honored with Ministry of Economic affairs "Outstanding Water Saving" and "Outstanding Energy Saving" Award in Taiwan

Faced with acceleration of global warming, Rexchip Electronics - established as a Joint Venture, by Taiwan's Powerchip Semiconductor and Japan's Elpida - enthusiastically echoing the government's green policies implemented plans to conserve our resources. Receiving the Ministry of Economic Affairs (MOEA) approval, Rexchip was honored with "Outstanding Water Saving" and "Outstanding Energy Saving" Award, making Rexchip a model for other high-tech companies in Taiwan.
In 2008, Rexchip plans to reduce total water consumption by 6.15 million metric tons equivalent to 1.2 Paoshan reservoir's yearly water supply. At the same time Rexchip also plans to reduce CO2 emissions by 167,000 metric tons, equal to 443 Taipei Da An park's yearly CO2 absorption.
In order to confirm with international environmental standards, Rexchip's strategy is to conserve energy, reduce waste and increase the efficiency of natural resource use in order to reduce pollution and energy consumption. During the construction of our first 12" fabrication facility (R1 Fab), Green building designs were implemented and water and energy conserving equipment were chosen. Other improvement projects were executed step by step when the R1 Fab began operations, such as organizing water and energy saving management, the installation of computerized auto maintenance systems to monitor daily consumption and recycling data, the establishment of annual conservation goals, as well as the encouragement of employee participation through their daily life experiences.
The Concept of a green enterprise requires hard work and has always been followed and implemented by Rexchip. Rexchip electronics not only has accumulated significant knowledge in the field of the conversation of water/energy and has also acquired 11 Republic of China patents. However being honored with the MOEA "Outstanding Water/Energy Saving" Awards as well as having the honor to speak at the awards ceremony, further reaffirms our conservation efforts. Rexchip will continue to pursue various energy conversation programs in order to improve its role as a corporate citizen and increasing its social responsibility in order to preserve and sustain our precious environment.
