EPA praises Rexchip for the excellent performance of
waste minimization and reuse
HOULI, TAIWAN, October 22, 2009 – Rexchip Electronics is a leading DRAM manufacturer in Taiwan. Its 300mm fabrication facility utilities the most advanced technology to manufacture high density and high performance DRAM.
Rexchip has always emphasized environmental protection as well as operating performance. Rexchip's excellent performance of waste minimization and reuse has been praised by the Environmental Protection Administration (EPA) and Rexchip has been awarded the "2009 Annual Award for Outstanding Performance Waste Disposal, Resource Minimization, Reuse and Recycling" in October 2009. Ever since the construction of our first 12" fabrication facility, Rexchip has invested enormously in equipment and installed systems for waste minimization, resource reuse and recycling. For instance, we installed a Perfluorocarbons (PFCs) abatement system to reduce CO2 emissions by 170,000 metric tons in 2008 and adapted 52 measures for waste minimization and installed a Fluidized Bed Crystallization (FBC) and Membrane Bioreactor (MBR) as a way of diminishing pollution. In 2008, Rexchip's multiple water reuse systems had achieved a process water rationing reuse rate of 85%. The various energy saving measures had reduced 20% of power and raw materials usage per wafer. The waste disposal, reuse and recycling rate also reached 97%.
Meanwhile, spreading the concept of waste minimization and resource reduction is one of the most important missions for Rexchip. We continuously educate our employees and contractors with relevant knowledge through training classes and information sharing. In the end, we hope to maintain a safe and healthy working environment and to help contribute in establishing a sustainable society.
