Elpida Announces New President for Subsidiary Akita Elpida

Tokyo, Japan, November 16, 2009 – Elpida Memory, Inc. (Tokyo: 6665), Japan's leading global supplier of Dynamic Random Access Memory (DRAM), today announced that Shuichi Otsuka became the new president of subsidiary Akita Elpida as of November 14 in place of the retiring Takayuki Watanabe.

While serving as president of Akita Elpida Mr. Otsuka will also continue as Chief Operating Officer for the parent Elpida and serve on Elpida's board of directors.

With his retirement from Akita Elpida Mr. Watanabe now moves to Elpida to take charge of improving TSV packaging development.

One other change at the top also happened on November 14: Yuji Abe officially retired from Akita Elpida's board of directors and was replaced by Shinji Kagaya.
